ADHD Assessment & Support
Structured psychometric assessment and practical, behavioural support for children, adolescents, and adults navigating attention, focus, and activity-related difficulties — in person in Bengaluru & Kolkata, or online across India.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can show up differently across the lifespan — as restlessness and difficulty following instructions in a young child, as inconsistent academic performance and organisational struggles in a teenager, or as trouble with focus, time management, and follow-through at work or home in an adult. Because these patterns overlap with many other things — anxiety, learning difficulties, sleep issues, or simply a mismatch between a child's temperament and their environment — a careful, structured assessment is often the most useful starting point before deciding what kind of support makes sense.
What a psychometric assessment involves
Srijita Gupta is an RCI-certified licensed Clinical Psychologist (RCI Reg. No. A56917) with an M.Phil in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, Centre of Excellence (IPGME&R & SSKM Hospital), Kolkata, and over ten years of experience working within government psychiatric hospital settings, including NIMHANS Bengaluru and the Institute of Psychiatry, SSKM Kolkata. This background includes substantial hands-on experience with psychometric and cognitive (IQ) assessment tools, which form a core part of how ADHD-related concerns are evaluated here.
An assessment generally combines a detailed clinical interview with the individual (and, for children, their parents or teachers), a review of developmental, academic, or occupational history, and standardised psychometric instruments — which may include cognitive/IQ testing where it helps clarify the overall picture of a child's or adult's functioning. The aim is to build a clear, individualised understanding of attention, activity levels, impulsivity, and executive functioning (planning, organisation, working memory), rather than to apply a one-size-fits-all label.
Support for children and adolescents
For children and adolescents, assessment findings are typically translated into practical strategies that parents, teachers, and the child can use day to day — things like structuring routines, breaking tasks into manageable steps, and building consistent behavioural cues at home and school. Where relevant, findings can also help inform conversations with schools about reasonable classroom accommodations. This work draws on cognitive-behavioural and behavioural approaches, adapted to the child's age and developmental stage.
Support for adults
Adults often come to an assessment after years of feeling that they are "trying harder" than others just to keep up — with deadlines, organisation, or follow-through. For adults, therapy alongside or following assessment tends to focus on practical, everyday strategies: structuring time and tasks, reducing procrastination patterns, and addressing the frustration, self-esteem concerns, or anxiety that can build up around long-standing attention difficulties. Approaches such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) can be used to work through these patterns collaboratively.
Attention difficulties can also coexist with, or be mistaken for, other concerns such as anxiety or sleep disruption, which is one reason a thorough assessment matters before settling on a plan. Where ADHD is affecting family dynamics, communication, or a couple's day-to-day routines, relationship and family therapy can also be a useful complement to individual work.
How sessions work
